Active Living for Older Adults

Active Living for Older Adults Photo by Wavebreak Media Ltd.

With more health awareness, our age is not necessarily indicative of how well our body is truly functioning.  A key element of great health is constant movement and mobility - as the saying goes “use it or lose it.”  The musculoskeletal (MSK) system plays an important role in maintaining health as we age, especially when managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.  MSK conditions can seriously affect our health, quality of life and independence.

Being active is important for your health regardless of your age, but it is vital for older adults to prevent falls and fall-related injuries. Maintaining good balance and fitness can be done through activity as simple as walking, cycling, golf, TaiChi or dancing.  Movement is the key!

INCLUDING CHIROPRACTIC CARE IN YOUR HEALTH CARE REGIME:
Chiropractic can help you to maintain mobility and function.  Healthy aging relies on your ability to keep moving in order to enjoy your activities of daily life with less pain or fewer limitations. Chiropractic care may help:

  • Manage pain
  • Increase range of motion
  • Improve function
  • Help decrease progression of joint degeneration
  • Correct posture
  • Increase Balance
  • Reduce risk of falls

Come by for a consultation at Uptown Chiropractic (645 Mount Pleasant Road) to see how chiropractic can help you feel better and do more. To schedule call 416-444-0944.
