Is the winter weather making you feel blah? Many people find themselves experiencing the winter blues, which can manifest as feelings of depression, lethargy, and lack of appetite during the winter months. Here are some tips to help bring the spring back into your step!
Spend as much time as possible in the sunlight! Spend some time outdoors during daylight hours, and make your indoor environment as bright as possible. In the fall, trim tree branches that may be blocking light from coming inside, and keep your curtains open during the daytime.
Get plenty of exercise. Exercise has been shown to relieve stress, increase energy and improve your mental well-being. Go for a walk outside or try an indoor activity such as swimming.
Eat well. Especially focus on lean proteins, Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B-12 and vitamin D, all of which can help to improve your mood. Salmon, eggs and fortified cereals are all a good bet, and don’t forget to eat your fruits and veggies!
Consider visiting a chiropractor for an assessment. Research has shown that good posture can give you more energy and improve your mood!
