Headaches can really interfere with daily life. They can impede our ability to think clearly, make decisions, process emotions, and sleep properly. If you are prone to headaches, chiropractic care could be beneficial for you.
Types of Headaches
Research has shown that chiropractic care can help 2 types of headaches in particular: migraines and cervicogenic headaches. A migraine is a type of headache that can cause pulsating or pounding-like pain on one side of the head along with other neurological symptoms, including aura, visual disturbances and sensitivity to light and noise. A cervicogenic headache is head pain originating from the neck.
How Chiropractic Care Can Help
Evidence demonstrates that chiropractic care can help assess, manage, and treat headaches. For example, a trial done in 2000 looked at the impact of spinal adjustments on patients with migraines. This study found that out of 123 participants, 1 in 5 reported a greater than 90% reduction in migraines after 2 months of care. Furthermore, a 2018 study done at the University of Minnesota examined the effects of regular chiropractic care on individuals with cervicogenic headaches. The results demonstrated that people who received an adjustment 3x a week for 6 weeks found that the number of cervicogenic headaches they experienced was reduced by half.
Are you or someone you know suffering from headaches? Consider trying chiropractic care to see if it can help you too!
